Breaks Are Important to Creativity

Originally drafted in January 2023

I used to take pride in putting out two to four albums a year. I thought being prolific meant I had a glut of creativity that was just pouring out of me and was proud of it. After taking almost a year off since my last release I’ve come to realize that frequent releases are not conducive to creating good art. That isn’t to say some artists can’t pull it off but most cannot and should not.

Repetition

Subject matter repeats, sound repeats, it can just be one album

Over-saturation

You can’t possibly support multiple albums properly. They all perform mediocre and reach a lesser audience

Quality Control

The time you spend on each goes down and so does quality

In the end, this was something I started writing in January 2023 and am posting now to test my DIY blogging software.
